Dreams Take Flight Scholarship

In partnership with Eaton Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) and the Capital Region International Airport, the MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) Desk Drawer Foundation is proud to support high school juniors and seniors interested in learning more about careers in the aviation industry with a scholarship opportunity. 

The dreams take flight scholarship helped me tremendously and put me on the fast track to getting my private pilot’s license and helping me start my career!

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a high school junior or senior in Eaton, Ingham, or Clinton counties, Michigan

  • Plan to attend or are currently attending the Eaton RESA Aviation Careers Institute (ACI) and Crosswinds Aviation or another flight school partner to earn a pilot's license

  • Be an MSUFCU member

    • Not a member? Open an account today for free with our quick application process

  • Applicants can re-apply for scholarships annually

Application Requirements

A completed application must include:

  • Completed application form

  • Report card or transcript

  • Letter of Recommendation related to aviation

  • Resume highlighting involvement in life skills, leadership, and character education experiences

  • A one-page, typewritten essay on the following prompt:

    • “Describe your passion behind aviation, why it is important to you, and your plans to complete aviation training. How will the Dreams Take Flight Scholarship further assist those ambitions?” 

 

Essays will be evaluated on organization, content, mechanics (grammar, language, usage), and clarity

 

Essays and applications will be reviewed by a committee that includes representatives from MSUFCU Desk Drawer Foundation, Capital Region International Airport, and Eaton RESA Aviation Careers Institute. Scholarship recipients will be contacted by the MSUFCU Desk Drawer Foundation.

Submission Deadline

Applicants must submit the completed application and all required materials by 11:59 p.m. (EST) on Thursday, November 28, 2024.

Submissions open on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Winners will be announced in January 2025.
